Constitutional organs · Article VI, Section 6
Appeals and Review Board
Mandate
The board hears challenges related to denial, suspension, revocation, interpretation disputes, and serious procedural complaints. It gives effect to the due-process guarantees of Article XVIII: fair process, notice and grounds, appeals access, and independent review.
Responsibilities
- Appeals against denial, suspension, or revocation of certification or accreditation
- Interpretation disputes over ratified standards
- Serious procedural complaints against IAASO organs
- Review paths that reduce conflicts of interest (Article XVIII, Section 4)
Composition
Structurally separated from the organs whose decisions it reviews. Members may not sit in judgment of determinations they participated in; independence is a constitutional requirement, not a courtesy.
How to join
Board members are appointed from senior members with adjudicative or assurance experience. Affected parties do not join the board — they bring appeals to it; see the appeals page for how.
